Blogtober Fest: Louder Than War
Updated: Feb 23, 2020
Louder Than War's Sarah Lay curated an exhilarating night for #Blogtober Festival at The Finsbury and we were honoured to headline. The venue was busy, the audience were up for a night of rock'n'roll and they got it!
We loved playing with LIINES and Art Trip and The Static Sound and, although each band had their own style of passionate punk, there was an uncompromising attitude in common and the bands complemented each other.
Promoters Lost In The Manor made a real effort with the presentation of the gig with great lights and a powerful PA sound. The response from the audience was immediate for LIINES through a crowd teasing punk set by Art Trip and the Static Sound to the raucous calls for an encore at the end of our set.
There was a strong representation of female musicians - including two all female bands - on this line up by a female curator. All the musicians watched, supported and talked to each other which was refreshing. This is how you build a real underground scene as opposed to just an online social network.
We enjoyed chatting with DJ John Kennedy who played songs by all three bands on his next Radio X X-Posure show saying "Deux Furieuses were on amazing form" with kind words for each band. Nigel Powell (Frank Turner's drummer whom we met when we supported Frank Turner at The Roundhouse) came and tweeted the next day "Deux Furieuses were phenomenal. Vas is a truly inspiring drummer for me". Ade Riches from Creative Sounds UK, wrote "This is the first time I have seen Deux Furieuses and they were off the scale". Roger Mairlot, The Gigslut, who has seen us many times wrote that he enjoyed a "non stop rock set from the fearsome twosome". Get In Her Ears' Kate Crudgington also made it despite suffering a massive hangover from being at DOLLS single launch the night before!
We wanted to raise the temperature with this set. It was special gig for us and we left feeling energised by the feedback we received about the new songs making their way into the live set and encouraged about London's underground music scene.
Our next show is a Veterans for Peace UK benefit gig at The Water Rats on 10th November, invited by original PJ Harvey bassist Ian Olliver.
