Knee on the neck or Covid 19. The prolonged and callous killing of George Floyd by the police was shocking to witness. That there is institutional and historic racism in our society is without doubt. Covid 19 has disproportionately affected BAME people and when they drill down to the reasons for this it will likely be inequality not genetics. The need to protest has trumped the risk. This calculation has led to many thousands protesting as best they can while the police wearno masks, corral people into small spaces and make them cough with tear gas.
With recent personal loss due to this pandemic and a missed funeral due to the need to have no more than eight present, it makes you wonder why we observed this rule. We can never have that time back. Now IS the time. We stand in solidarity with the protesters. #blacklivesmatter
